ハードディスクの空き容量が少なくなってしまったので

僕は10GのPGPの仮想ドライブを作って、そこのメールとか作業用ファイルとかをすべて入れているのですが、ここがついに残り200Mを切ってしまいました。そこで空き容量確保を考えたのですが、何やったかメモ。Windows XP使ってます。

  1. メール添付ファイルの削除
    僕はメールはBecky!を使っているので、添付ファイル便利ツール プラグイン for Becky!2をダウンロードしてきて、インストールします。これで各メールフォルダで添付ファイルをリストアップして、大きくていらないものを削除していきます。特に「送信済フォルダ」にあるファイルはほぼ不要なのですべて削除してしまいます。

  2. メールの削除
    これは人によると思いますが、僕の場合エラーメールや迷惑メールを大量に受信しているので、そういうものは丸ごと削除します。また、一部後で検索とかするかもしれないなというものはすべてGmailに送るように設定を変えてしまいます。また、過去に終わってしまったプロジェクトのMLなどはフォルダごとバックアップHDDに移動させてしまいます。

  3. 容量の大きいファイルを削除
    各方面から送られてくる巨大なファイルを削除するには、エクスプローラを開いて、該当フォルダを右クリックして、検索を選択します。すると「検索結果」というウィンドウが開くので、ここで「サイズは？」をクリックし、「大（1MBより大きい）」を選択して、そのまま「検索」ボタンを押します。すると、そのドライブにあるでかいファイルがすべてリストアップされるので、大きい順に並び替えをします。すると、びっくりするくらい大きいファイル（主にメールで添付されてきたファイルやダウンロードしたプログラム）があるので、がしがし削除します。

以上で4Gほどの容量が確保できましたので、完了です。半日かかりましたが。。

P.S.ところで、データ類はすべて日付別フォルダを作って、その日に触ったファイルとかを全部入れてます。これが一番効率いいかなーと思ってるんですが、なんかいい方法あります？

(極端ですが) 細かく仕訳するか、もしくは全く何もしないの二択な気がしています。今の私は全く仕訳しておらず、データは同じフォルダに投げっぱなしジャーマンです。検索は (メーラや Google Desktop など、諸々の) システムに依存しています。
振り分けルールを作ったり、仕訳にかける労力を考えた上で私なりに出した「探すのは機械の仕事でしょ」という結論なのですが、私も効率の良い方法があったら是非、知りたいです。

山田氏の日給を（仮に）5万として4GBに2.5万ですか。
外付けHDDを新たに購入した方がずっと割安だったかと(^^ゞ

Windowsに検索させるのって少し遅いんですよね。でも、日付で並べ替えならすぐできるし、一つのフォルダに突っ込む方がいいのかもですね。

僕はノートPCを使っているので、ハードディスク足せば済むって問題でもないんですよね。確かにノートPCのハードディスクが80Gになれば一発で解決するわけですが。。

PGPドライブ内に全部入れるというのは、暗号化されるので安心ってのもありますが、ドライブごとバックアップを取ってしまえばいいのでバックアップが超楽チンというのがあります（時間は30分くらいかかりますが）。

壊れると痛すぎるので、何気に1週間に1回は取るようにしてます。

ご回答、ありがとうございます。私もノート派なので気楽に増設というわけにもいかず、いろいろ模索してます。

Windows の検索システムはよく出来ていると思いますが、どうしても不満が残りますね。MSDN 会員向けに WinFS の Beta1 がリリースされたそうですが、どんな塩梅になっているか、ちょっと気になっています。以上、蛇足でしたー。
