以前に申し込んでおいたFONの無線LANルータ「La Fonera」が着払いで届いたので、早速設置しました。内容はものすごいシンプルで英語（と、フランス、スペイン、ドイツ語）のマニュアルのみ。設置も簡単で、有線LANにえいっと繋ぐだけ。CD-ROMはマニュアルが入っているだけです（しかも日本語はなし）。
すると、MyPlaceとFON_APというアクセスポイントができます。MyPlaceは本体裏面にあるキーを入力すれば暗号化されて繋がります。一方、FON_APの方は暗号化なしで繋いで、最初のページでFONのログインを促される、という形になっています。
どういう仕組みになっているのか分からないのですが、FONのウェブページでログインすると自分のLa Fonera（無線LANルータ）が登録されていて、自分がAlianからLinusになっていました。これで他の人のLa Foneraが使えるようになっているみたいです（もしかしたらMyPlaceで繋いでログインをするとその人のアカウントと紐付けられるのかも）。
これでうちのマンションの周りにアクセスポイントができたことになります。めでたし。
しかし、住所の登録が日本の場合どうしてもできないみたいで、エラーになってうまくアクセスポイントを地図に置くことができません。これはなんとかして欲しいところです。
割とおもしろいなと思ったのは、「友達や家族」のIDとパスワードがウェブ上で簡単に設定できるところです。これによって、家に誰か遊びに来た際なんかに無線LANを自由に使ってもらえます。会社とかに設置すれば、訪問者に無線LANを開放することもできます。この場合、FON_APを使うので暗号化ができませんが。
単なる無線LANルータとしても使えるので、1980円で買える格安の無線LANルータとして見てもいいですね。うちに元からある無線LANルータは無用になりそうです。
