僕が渡米していたのは2004年の1年間でしたが、海部さんの書くアメリカ人から見た日本人感とか、日本人から見た欧米感とかシリコンバレー感はどんぴしゃな感じで、うんうんと頷きながらページをめくってました。悲観的でもなく楽観的でもない現実認識があると思います。

この本の特徴としては、日本が進むべき道を「ゆるやかな開国」として示しているところでしょうか。個人的には、あまりマクロに物事を考えないので、日本の特徴をふまえた上で、「ありえそうな」やり方で提示しているのが素晴らしいなと思いました。個人的には十分ありうるシナリオだと思います。意外と日本人賢いのです。
