プレイステーションのSCEと久夛良木氏の歴史をまとめたドキュメンタリー本。それぞれ時代の状況とSCEおよび久夛良木氏のとった戦略が鮮明に描かれておりとにかくおもしろい。なぜどのようにSCEが成功したのか、SCEが成したことは何なのか、なぜPS3は迷走しているのか、がよく分かります。

個人的には、ここまでのロマンチストである久夛良木氏をソニーがうまく活用できなかったことが残念だなと思いました。ソニーも一人の人間にすべてをゆだねるわけにはいかない大企業になった、ということだと思うのですが。。

・（プレイステーション発売する時にLSIを100万台仕入れたが、初回出荷台数は10万台と見られた）当時SCEのCFOであり、決裁を担当した徳中輝久は、あまりにも巨額な取引であったために「サインをする時に手が震えた」と話している。
・スーパーファミコンの末期には、ROMカートリッジの製造コストと、これら流通経路で必要とされる費用を合わせると、ゲーム1本あたり4000円近くにまでなっていた。
・ゲームといえば日本のお家芸と思われがちだが、それはすでに昔のことだ（中略）2003年から2006年まで、米国でのゲームソフトの年間販売本数トップ10（合計40本）の中で、日本メーカーの製品は11本。しかも、そのうち8本は任天堂のものだ。
