マイクロソフトが覇権を握っていく様をマイクロソフト日本法人で体験した著者によるドキュメント。今から考えるとマイクロソフトは一直線に今の地位を築いたかのように思ってしまいますが、実際はMSXやらOS/2やら失敗に失敗を積み重ねてタイミングよくWindowsをデファクトスタンダードに押し上げたということがよく分かります。もちろんそれに値するだけの努力はありますが、あのマイクロソフトですら、運良くであるならば、会社経営とは何なのかを考えさせれました。

特に今、一時期持ち上げられた会社が不況にあえいでマスコミから叩かれたりしているのをみると、結局のところ着実に努力を積み重ねることと、毎日を楽しむこと（公私ともに）が重要なのではないかなと思っています。少なくとも今持ち上げられている会社について「書かれていること」をまともに信じない方がよいというのだけは確かです。

少しずれましたが、マイクロソフトが何者でもなかったときの奮闘ぷりがかいま見れて非常におもしろいですし、内容も一気に読めるので、一読されてはいかがでしょうか。
